Even though Africa is the second largest continent, access to electricity within the landmass is dismal. The Quest to Power Africa infographic provides startling statistics like the notion that 79% of people there have no access to electricity. Comparatively, the U.S. has a far lower population, but uses much more energy than Africa, and New York alone consumes the same amount of electricity as all sub-Saharan African nations combined. The right hand portion of the infographic highlights different types of energy that are utilized or produced within the continent, and the location that such non-fossil fuel energy efforts are present.
